The Marvel Comics Art of Agustin Alessio.
Anonymous said: I see from your other answers, you seem to be influenced by some sort of minimalist work shop instructor, and your editor? Is there a particular course you take with some skilled in minimalism that helps direct your stories? I am currently an Editor-In-Chief of the honors undergrad research journal at OU, and (think) that I want to be a writer...hopefully your influence on me (I've read nearly all your books) shows because I absolutely love your shit, and would be more than honored.
My best advice is to contact Tom Spanbauer. He regularly does three- or four-day intensive workshops wherein he teaches the basics of what he taught me. Unless you can relocate to Portland and attend his weekly Thursday workshop, that’s your best bet. Beyond that, look for a weekly workshop of smart, supportive peers. Their expectation will keep you producing work and give you a social outlet that validates your ambition.
I wish Tom would invite me back. He’s a little light on plotting skills and I’d love to co-teach that aspect. Just a thought.
Reblogging for future reference.
